I was going to write something the first week of January but got caught up with things I had to do that I never got to post something.
Updates for January -
New year was quiet, I didn't really celebrate it. My friends and I watched "P.S. I Love You on Dec 31 afternoon and got tired that by about 10pm we were all ready to go to sleep. January 1 was pretty uneventful as well. Just resting, reading and pretty much enjoying the last week of my holiday. January 5, I celebrated my birthday early with Loren, Dorothy, John, Billy, Mark and Marx. We had dinner out and went clubbing, which I haven't done in awhile. It was a great night and we really enjoyed the change. We normally just hang out in L's place after having dinner out so going out after dinner and drinking (only a little) was refreshing. The next day I had dinner out with Evelyn, Girlie, Josiah and Bruce. Monday, my actual birthday, was back to work day but we had afternoon tea here at work. Everyone was just catching up and having a slow back to work mode day. I had dinner out with D that evening and that concludes my birthday celebration.
The week after that was moving week (Jan 18). I have moved and I am now living in a one bedroom flat by myself. I will take pictures and post it here once everything is fixed. I still need to buy a couch and a small table. It's weird being alone - I feel happy and sad about it. I'm closer to work (10 minutes without traffic) and closer to my friends (5 minutes to Dot's house and 8 minutes to L's house). I need to clean less, but the small space needs a bit of getting used to. I feel cramped and suffocated at times. I think I will move again in a year or so, this place is not "it" yet. The rent is much higher than what I'm used to, so my finances will need a bit of rearranging. Moving is so expensive! Ii will take awhile to recover.
Jan 21 I bumped my car. Nothing major, just a little kiss of my front bumper with someone's rear bumper. That's going to cost money as well to claim with my insurance, etc. etc.
The week after (Jan 26) was my oath taking for citizenship. I am now officially an Australian citizen. I would still need to apply for dual citizenship but maybe later on when I've settled down a bit. That was the day my friends bought me my birthday presents as well. I had to be with them to try the shoes and pants that was on my wish list. Originally, I wanted tyres for my car as a present, but I still didn't need it so pants and shoes it was.
Work is very hectic. We are in the middle of another election campaign, this time for Brisbane City Council. I will get to exercise my voting rights for the first time this March. Also, my new accounting subject has come in I will need to study for that. Exams are in May. The museum (Hinkler Hall of Aviation) that we were commissioned to build exhibits for will open by the end of this year as well and everything and everyone is hectic in our multimedia department.
Whew! That was a long post! Writing about it has made me realize how tired I am and that I need to recover from the month that passed so quickly that I was surprised that it was February already.
L, M, M and B are now in Manila. I so envy them! I wish I was on holidays too. I have to wait till the end of the year for that. Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! I hope the Year of the Rat will be good for all of us.
