This is the 5th Christmas and New Year that I've spent away from my family. My friends here told me that I should have just moved my vacation during this time. However, plane fare is just too expensive during the peak season. Add to the fact that I couldn't have waited any longer.
Every December I can't help but wish that the present year be over and that January would just rush in. Now, my wish has finally come true and January is finally here. I'm almost over this thing I get into and I'm ready to get 2006 over and done with as well. I will not be able to leave the country this year due to multiple reasons, but there are a lot of things to accomplish that will keep me busy and hopefully make me not notice the passing days.
2005 was not a bad year for me, 2004 was still worse. I enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. I also got to go home and see my old friends. Whatever happened in the beginning, the middle and the end of the year is a learning experience in patience, humility and hard work for me. Now the new year is finally here, although I'm still waiting for Chinese New Year as well, and I'm thinking that this would be a more interesting and surprising year. I have made no plans at all, so let's see where the wind takes me.
Two of my friends are getting married this year and I wouldn't be able to see them get hitched. It can't be helped though, I do wish I can witness these two events.
Here's looking forward to the new year and totally getting over this mood I'm in.
